Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Regional Director (RD) and the Regional Deputy Director (RDD) for West and Central Africa (WCA) and under the direct supervision of the Regional Media and Communications Lead, the Digital Communication Intern will assist in supporting the Regional Media and Communication Unit.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Digital Strategy Support: Support to the development and implementation of a digital communication strategy, aligned with IOM goals and global priorities.
  • Content Creation: Contribute to the development of engaging and relevant content for digital platforms, including social media and websites.
  • Social Media Management: Assist in managing and updating the regional social media accounts, ensuring adherence to IOM standard language and communication guidelines, and engage with the online community to enhance IOM visibility and engagement.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor digital performance metrics, analyze data, and provide monthly statistics on social media metrics against performance indicators.
  • Graphic Design: Create visually appealing graphics, infographics, and images to complement digital content and enhance visual communication.
  • Website Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and updating the IOM WCA website, ensuring content is accurate, current, and aligned with digital communication strategies.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

University degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or any other related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe suite and/or other editing tools (Photoshop, Premier Pro, Canva etc.)
  • Experience using an email marketing tool (Mailchimp)
  • Previous work experience in the field of communications
  • Strong interpersonal & intercultural skills with attention to detail.

Languages:

  • Fluency in French and English is required
